Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle the personal information you provide when you use this website or request a quote from us. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Professional Timber Flooring (VIC) Pty Ltd (ABN 32 623 392 941), trading as Flooring House.

For any privacy questions, requests or complaints, you can contact us at:

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers personal information we collect through this website and the flooring supply, measure, quote and installation services we describe on it. It does not cover third-party websites we link to, which have their own privacy policies.

3. What personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

Information you give us directly:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, the service you're interested in, and the message you send us.
  • Quote / enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number, any notes you add, and the products you've selected for a quote.

Information collected automatically:

  • Analytics data: when you browse the site, our analytics tools collect information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, device and browser type, and online identifiers, using cookies (see section 6).
  • Your IP address: our server briefly reads your IP address to limit the rate of form submissions and reduce spam. We do not store it or include it in the emails sent to us.
  • Technical logs: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and request details) for security and reliability.
  • Map features: pages that show an embedded map load content from Google Maps, which receives your IP address and usage data.

When you add products to a quote basket, those selections are stored only in your own browser (local storage) for up to an hour so the basket isn't lost while you browse. This does not contain personal information and is not sent to us until you submit an enquiry.

4. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and answer your questions;
  • prepare and send you quotes and arrange the supply, measure and installation of flooring;
  • keep ordinary records of our dealings with you;
  • understand how our website is used so we can improve it; and
  • protect our website against spam and misuse.

We only use the contact details you give us to respond to your enquiry. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run this website and respond to you:

  • Resend — delivers the enquiry and quote emails you send us through the website (privacy policy).
  • Google — provides our website analytics (via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics) and the embedded maps (privacy policy).
  • Vercel — hosts the website and processes server requests and logs (privacy policy).

We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law.

6. Cookies and tracking

Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies. Our analytics cookies (Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics) help us understand how visitors use the site. Embedded maps may also set cookies through Google. We do not use advertising or remarketing pixels.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of the providers above store and process data outside Australia. In particular, your information is likely to be handled in the United States, where Resend, Google and Vercel operate. By submitting your details, you consent to this overseas handling of your personal information.

8. How we store and protect your information

We use reputable third-party providers and take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to keep your information safe.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry and quote information for as long as we need it to respond to you and for our ordinary business records, and then delete or de-identify it when it is no longer required.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details in section 1 and we will respond within a reasonable time. There is normally no charge for making a request.

11. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first using the details in section 1 so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

12. Automated decisions and children

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling. Our website and services are intended for adults and are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our website or how we handle personal information. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.

This policy reflects how this website currently works and may be updated as the site changes. If you have any questions, please contact us.
